“We chose Bluewolf as our partner because the team was a seamless culture fit with our own.”Ron Borden, Executive Director, IT
The Midwest Operating Engineers (MOE) Local 150, a labor union representing approximately 27,000 men and women working in a variety of construction industries, including drilling, material testing, and aggregate production, needed a way to scale how it manages the health benefits plan process and reduce its costs.
MOE worked with Bluewolf to deploy an employee and member community powered by Salesforce Service Cloud, enabling members to manage their benefits online. This one-stop-shop for all benefits and healthcare needs, the MOE Health Plan Marketplace, offers a variety of plans that provide different levels of coverage at different price points to meet members’ medical needs.
A suite of tools to help members with plan selection and submission, known as My150, includes questionnaires and self-assessments, as well as an affordability calculator for members to determine if their health plan selection is affordable for their family based on their anticipated level of employment.
With My150, thousands of union members are now right-sizing their healthcare plans online. Members can now review general account information, manage dependents, and pay membership dues online, as opposed to doing paperwork and submitting forms and payments in person. The ease of the new online community and payment system has allowed the union to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid dues from members.
My150 is also a hub of communication and a source of education, integrated with SMS capabilities, so that administrators can text members about security information, account balances, and information about health and welfare policy initiatives. The new My150 Community is projected to save Local 150 and the MOE Fringe Benefit Funds millions of dollars annually.
